Jen Kurtz is a New Jersey native and was raised in Sayreville. After practicing with a firm in Washington, DC, she returned to New Jersey and opened The Law Office of Jennifer M. Kurtz. The firm's mission is to provide superior legal services at affordable rates to individuals and small businesses. Jen is licensed to practice law in New Jersey, New York and the District of Columbia. She is also a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, The Bankruptcy American Inn of Court, Middlesex County Bar Association, and New Jersey Bar Association. Prior to opening The Law Office of Jennifer M. Kurtz, Jen worked as a litigation attorney for the Washington, DC office of one of the world's largest law firms. During her four years with that firm, Jen worked on a varied caseload, which included government investigations, white collar defense, pre-acquisition due diligence, and construction litigation. Jen graduated summa cum laude from John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a Bachelor's degree in Government. After college, Jen attended The George Washington University Law School and graduated cum laude. During law school, Jen was an active member of the Moot Court Board and an Articles Editor for the American Bar Association's Public Contract Law Journal. Jen has a strong commitment to social justice and firmly believes that all people should have access to legal
services. Jen protects the rights of parents embroiled in matters with The
Division of Child Protection and Permanency ("DCPP" formerly known as
DYFS) by representing Public Defender clients as Designated Counsel for
the Office of Parental Representation, Appellate Section. Jen has always devoted a portion of her
practice to pro bono work. She has assisted pro bono clients with criminal
appeals (including a federal death penalty appeal), landlord
tenant matters and immigration issues. She also worked with a
non-profit organization to develop litigation and non-litigation
strategies to protect the education
rights of students with emotional and behavioral disabilities. |
